Guys Write for Guys Read is a collection of fiction, nonfiction, and drawings aimed at boys who do not particularly like to read. Jon Scieszka contacted the 60 contributors and put it all together as an extension in print of his fine guysread.com website. This is a collection of speeches given in San Francisco a few years ago by a panel of writers. We each talked about one aspect of character. The panel discussion went so well that people said, “You should turn this into a book,” so the organizers of the discussion did. Dear Author: Letters of Hope is a collection of letters between students and authors that tries to address real problems in our society today. It was put together by Dr. Joan Kaywell of the University of South Florida, a tireless advocate of abused children and children in general.
